- Note: Mac OS X.5 and X11
Forwarding
There is an issue with Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) or later and X11 Forwarding.
Apple's latest X11 program uses a different method for handing X forwarding
which is incompatible with the X forwarding implementation in GSI-SSHTerm.
There are two solutions to this problem. The first is to install
GSISSH and use it instead of GSI-SSHTerm. The second is more complex
and less secure. Use it at your own risk.
- Verify in System Preferences that the Firewall is enabled and not
allowing incoming connections for X11.
- Start X11. In the X11 Preferences, choose the Security tab and select
"Allow connections from network clients". Quit X11.
- (Re)start X11. In the xterm window that appears, run "xhost +".
- Launch GSI-SSHTerm (either the Java Web Start version or the Java Applet
version). Select File->New Connection. Select Advanced. Select the X
tab. Enable X Forwarding and set Local Display to :0.0. Connect.
- When your session is finished, run "xhost -" in the xterm window.
